Remembering Rowyn: A Legacy of Love, Comfort, and Hope

Every September 16, we pause to remember

the little girl who started it all—Rowyn.

On September 16, 2014, what began as an ordinary fall morning changed two families forever. Rowyn was just 17 months old when her life was tragically cut short in an accident. She was a happy, loving little girl who adored keeping up with her big brother Wyatt, helping her mom, following her dad, and sharing her affection with everyone around her.

There is no way to undo the heartbreak of that day.

But out of an unimaginable loss came a promise: Rowyn would never be forgotten.

That promise became Raise for Rowyn.

A Little Girl's Legacy

Since Raise for Rowyn was founded in 2014, Rowyn's memory has grown into something much bigger than anyone could have imagined. What began in a small Washington community has become a source of comfort and support for families experiencing one of life's most devastating losses—the death of a child.

Today, Raise for Rowyn has helped over 1,000 families with funeral expenses and compassionate support.

Behind every number is a child.

Behind every child is a family whose world has changed forever.

And behind every family we are able to support is a community that has chosen to show up for them.

Raise for Rowyn works directly with funeral homes to help ease some of the financial burden families face after losing a child. But our mission has grown to include much more than financial assistance. We want our Angel Families to know that their children are remembered and that they do not have to walk through grief alone.

Throughout the year, volunteers write handwritten birthday and anniversary cards to let families know we are thinking of their Angels. Families receive special Christmas ornaments in memory of their children, and care packages provide meaningful keepsakes and comfort. Through our Sibling Book Program, we also recognize the brothers and sisters who are grieving and remind them that they, too, are seen, loved, and supported.

These may seem like small gestures, but to a grieving family, simply knowing that someone else remembers their child's name can mean so much.

Turning Heartbreak Into Hope

Rowyn's story began with tragedy, but her legacy is one of compassion, community, and love.

Every family helped, every Angel remembered, every handwritten card, every donation, every volunteer hour, and every person who shares our mission helps Rowyn's legacy continue.

The work of Raise for Rowyn cannot take away a family's grief. We cannot change what happened on September 16, 2014, and we cannot change the heartbreaking circumstances that bring families to us.

What we can do is stand beside them.

We can help carry a small part of the burden.

We can say their child's name.

We can remember.

And we can make sure families know they are not alone.

Remembering Rowyn

Today, we remember the sweet 17-month-old girl whose life inspired a mission that continues to touch families more than a decade later.

We remember Rowyn for the little girl she was, for the family who loves and misses her, and for the incredible legacy that continues in her name.

Over 1,000 families have now been touched by the organization created in her memory, and with the continued support of our donors, volunteers, partners, and community, that legacy will continue.
